Ene puts Bacău in the quarter-finals

The next tie brought Kilmarnock. Bacău drew 1–1 away, then won 2–0 at the 23 August stadium on 13 January 1970. Daniel Ene scored both goals. Valeriu Neagu and Constantin Rădulescu’s team had beaten three opponents and reached the last eight. Arsenal were next.

Arsenal prove too strong

Arsenal won 2–0 in Bacău and 7–1 at Highbury in March. They went through 9–1 on aggregate and went on to win the competition. Bacău’s eight-match campaign ended with four wins, two draws and two defeats, 13 goals scored and ten conceded. The quarter-final was a heavy defeat, after three rounds in which Dinamo had earned their progress.
