Romanian club formula and competition-entry calculations

SI = 60% Pv + 20% P + 15% Pct + 5% GB. This differs from the country and opponent-team formula.

Pv is the average progression score across completed competition entries. Expectations depend on competition, season and entry point. Meeting the expectation earns 100; subsequent successful stages earn 10 each. When the expectation is already met at entry, the final is the target and PvE = 100 × Cal / TDis, with no bonuses. The European Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup award 100 for a lost final and 110 for a win. Read expectations, entry rules and examples →

P = 100 × (wins + 0.5 × draws) / matches. Pct = 100 × (regular match points + round bonuses) / available regular match points in stages actually played. Qualifying wins/draws earn 1/0.5; main-stage wins/draws earn 2/1. Post-group play-offs are main stages. Bonuses: one per group phase and per eligible post-group round, quarter-final, semi-final or final played, regardless of its match count. Round of 32/16 bonuses apply only in group-based formats. Bonus points are excluded from the denominator and Pct is not capped.

GB = 100 × goals scored / (goals scored + goals conceded), using combined goals across included matches. A played record with no goals for either side receives 50. Shoot-out goals are excluded. Awarded match scores follow the archive’s recorded totals. The final weighted index is calculated without rounding its components or imposing a cap.

For the included entries: 3 regular points + 0 bonus points; 6 available regular points; 6 goals scored and 6 conceded. Transfers create separate competition entries. Ongoing campaigns and unresolved entries are listed below; an unresolved completed entry prevents a final SI.

How these figures are counted

Secondary competitions are the Mitropa Cup, Balkans Cup and all Intertoto Cup editions, including UEFA editions. UEFA / non-UEFA labels still describe the organising body.

A season is counted once by its starting year, even when the club switches competitions. Calendar-year editions use their entry year. Each club in one competition in one season is a separate competition entry.

Qualifications follow the recorded whole-round outcomes: knockout ties, groups and league phases count once when progression is recorded. Switching competitions creates another competition entry; it does not add an extra qualification to the recorded round outcome. Finals and group-format titles are recorded as achievements instead.

Group / unique group appearances combine traditional small groups with the single league table introduced in 2024/25. Both count once per campaign phase. In secondary competitions, a group may simply be the tournament format.

Spring appearances follow the owner-confirmed stage tables. A marked stage counts as played, whether the club advanced or was eliminated. The Principal Competitions tile combines Round of 32 / play-offs and Round of 16 appearances as “Other”; a campaign reaching both contributes two stage appearances. Detailed match records retain each round’s full name. Round of 32 includes knockout phase play-offs. For other campaigns, a whole round must fall in January–June of one calendar year; rounds carried over from the preceding year are excluded. Steaua’s December 1986 Intercontinental final is an explicit exception. Both the 1986 Super Cup and Intercontinental final are attributed to the 1985/86 qualifying season, with actual match dates preserved.

W/D/L and goals include awarded scores. Match records below exclude awards. All figures describe the supplied archive.

Deciding momentsAway goals, penalties, extra time and additional matches

All outcomes are from the Romanian club’s perspective: Won means the Romanian club progressed or won the final; Lost means its opponent did. Away goals, shoot-outs and replays count once per tie. The a.e.t. row counts individual matches requiring extra time, including those later decided on penalties. Its Won / Lost columns show the eventual tie or final outcome.
